 In July 2009, four historic churches in the Cambria City neighborhood in Johnstown were permanently closed. These churches represented the ethic heritage of the Irish, Slovaks, Germans, Croatians, Polish and Hungarians. The churches closed were St. Columba, St. Rochus, St. Stephen, Immaculate Conception, and Sts. Casimir and Emerich. Prior to the deconsecration, an extensive collection of photos was taken in order to preserve the religious and secular items contained in each. Also included in this collection are items such as newspaper articles, anniversary booklets, or other memorial items associated with each church.
