The Story of the Snow Globe
When she was four or five, Freda wandered the neighborhood near her home in Westmont. She found herself at the home of Mrs. Logan. Mrs. Logan had a sun porch where she displayed her collection of paperweights. Mrs. Logan offered Freda a glass of milk. Freda became fascinated with the paperweights and would come over often to play with them. Years later, while at her office, Freda learned that Mrs. Logan had passed away and that items in her house were being sold. She left her office and went to Mrs. Logan’s, there she met her son. When she asked about the paperweights she was told they had all been sold. She then told Mrs. Logan’s son the story of playing with the paperweights as a child. He told her to wait and he went upstairs, returning with this snow globe of the Statue of Liberty. He told Freda that since these meant so much to her, that she could have it. She still has it to this day.
