Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What time should we arrive at the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College?

The event begins at 10:00 a.m. so you should plan to be at the College and in your groups by 10:00 a.m.

  1. What time will the event conclude?

The event is scheduled to conclude at 2:00 p.m.

  1. What if there is inclement weather?

The One Book event will take place rain or shine. In the case of rain, all events will be moved inside as appropriate. Students should dress appropriately and wear rain gear and carry umbrellas if the weather is calling for rain. If it doesn’t rain, items can be left on the bus.

  1. What about lunch?

Students should bring a lunch with them. Please have the students put their names on their lunches. All lunches will be put in large containers until lunch time and labeled by school. All students will eat lunch in the College’s gym.

  1. How will we move between stations (groups)

Each school will be divided into groups of no more than 50 students each. For schools that bring fewer than 50 students you may be combined with other schools to make your group total 50. Each group will receive colored buttons for the students to wear. The purpose of the buttons is to facilitate movement between stations and to help keep the groups together. Each group will have a group leader that will take each group from station-to-station.

  1. Will copies of the book be available for sale?

There will be copies of the books for sale. Books can be purchased with cash or check. No credit cards, please.

  1. What are the stations?

There will be 14 stations set-up throughout the College and consisting of presentations by College faculty and guest speakers on aspects of the book . In some cases students will participate in hands-on demonstrations. All stations are designed to be conducted within a 20-minute session. There are two tracks that students will travel through. Every attempt has been made to ensure that students see similar demonstrations in each track.
